What is Roller Derby?
Roller derby is a fast-paced and exhilarating sport played on roller skates, typically on an oval track. It involves two teams, each consisting of five players. The primary objective of roller derby is for a designated player called the "jammer" to score points by lapping members of the opposing team. The other players on each team are known as "blockers" and work to both assist their jammer and prevent the opposing jammer from scoring. Roller derby is unique in that it incorporates elements of strategy, athleticism, and teamwork, making it much more than just a physical contact sport.
